 I thought Slat’s project should be done. In fact, the machine can collect a lot of plastic trash. According to hid TED talk, 300 million tons of plastic is producing every year, so we should collect plastic which were already thrown away into the ocean. Despite this situation, there is a criticism that, firstly, we should reduce the amount of producing plastic. It is correct, but I think we should do both of them which are reducing the amount of plastic produced and collecting plastic trash. Some critics say that the plan will have a bad effect on creatures of the sea. However, I found that the project will save them by reducing plastic trash. He used crowdfunding to raise fund, so we can know that he has a character which can influence others. People raised fund because they were probably moved by his speech or thinking.

 It is obvious that environmental issues are a major topic of discussion in the world these days, and marine pollution is one of the most widely known environmental problems.  Slat’s idea is revolutionary and could contribute greatly to solving this problem. I agree with his idea that “preventing” cannot solve this problem, because I believe that just reducing the amount of garbage thrown away means postponing this problem. The most surprising thing is the age at which he started the project. Despite his young age, he developed his own garbage-collecting machine to solve marine pollution, and despite much criticism, he was able to put it to practical use by improving some of its flaws. From this sequence of events, I guess his personality is brave and calm. I would also say that he is a brilliant man with excellent inductive thinking skills.  I think his energy is very impressive. Without action, nothing will happen, so I think his project is contributing to the cleanup of the oceans in some small way. I think that his confident attitude has a positive impact on the people involved in his project. I want to be able to act with confidence like him.

I think his ideas are nice because the idea got a point. Personally, I think focusing on gyres got a point. Otherwise, this idea seems inefficient because we should get people and ship them out every time now. Also, I think his youth and energic personality have fueled them because positive and fresh things are necessary for innovations.   I think his ideas seem a little bit ineffective so we should make it effective. if it will be in the long run, I am sure it can solve ocean pollution problems which is related with plastic rubbishes almost. In my opinion, to be effective, it seems nice that creating autopilot systems.

Through his story of coming up that idea, I was surprised and impressed. Firstly, he has been doing engineering projects and building things since he was two years old so you can know that the ocean cleanup idea might be built up when he was young. In addition, when he was only 16 years old, he decided to devote a high school essay for investigation of plastic pollution. 2 years later, he presented his idea at TED talk and his TED talk went viral. Then a lot of people invest to his project and he founded the Ocean Cleanup in 2013 finally. From his story, I guessed his personal characteristic is that he can concentrate to one thing strongly and he can complete what he works on with passionate thoughts. Because of this personality, he could build up his own organization and be supported by a lot of people.   On the issue of marine pollution, my view is the same as Boyan Slat. Ocean cleaning is urgent! Why is marine pollution getting more and more serious? It is so serious that even human beings are unwilling to face their own damage to the marine environment -- oil and its products, heavy metals, plastic products and other chemical raw materials are poured into the sea -- various pathogenic bacteria are rampant, and the temperature, salinity, oxygen level of the sea are changed, even full of toxins -- a large number of marine organisms die, and the chain of marine organisms is seriously damaged -- human health and all marine related industries are adversely affected. This is a long list of results caused by long-term human misconduct. It is almost impossible to solve the problem quickly and with less money. Mr. Boyan Slat was surprised by the amount of plastic waste when he went diving, a hobby of his. He became aware of the dangers of plastic waste and, although he was still a minor, he decided to actively conduct an experiment to solve the problem. What I find amazing about him is that he was willing to try experiments even though they were not subsidized by the government. He continues to work with Ocean Cleanup today. His plastic waste collection operation can separate the trash from the fish and plankton and collect only the trash on a large scale. On top of that, he uses fuels that reduce carbon dioxide emissions, and other aspects besides trash that do not pollute the marine environment, which I thought was amazing. I believe that his ability to take action to improve the situation as soon as he realized that it was not good led to the current results, rather than adults who realized that it was not good and did not take action.
