Boyan Slat & The Ocean cleanup -- Shiho Matsuura

I think his ideas are nice because the idea got a point. Personally, I think focusing on gyres got a point. Otherwise, this idea seems inefficient because we should get people and ship them out every time now.

Also, I think his youth and energic personality have fueled them because positive and fresh things are necessary for innovations.

 

I think his ideas seem a little bit ineffective so we should make it effective. if it will be in the long run, I am sure it can solve ocean pollution problems which is related with plastic rubbishes almost.

In my opinion, to be effective, it seems nice that creating autopilot systems.

    Hi, Shiho. The autopilot system is a good idea. His draft is very good and would certainly improve the environment if it could be implemented.

    I agree with you Shiho, it would be very advantageous if Slat's idea of unattended structures with nets between them could collect plastic as it was swept into them by the currents in a gyre. Unfortunately he wasn't able to get that system to work so he is resorting to ships dragging nets between them at present. It would be great if someone else could take up his initial idea and make it work.

  Hello, class! I’m Shiho and from Japan. Also, I’m 19 years old and now live in Kaikorai with Hilary who is my host mother. I have impressed a nature, a view from my home and a wood stove. I like Dunedin because there’s no high buildings and Dunedin is a beautiful streetscape. Sometimes, I miss Japan and soaking in the bathwater.
