Ahead of the Game -- Usa Yamagami
I like to play computer games. I often play computer games with my Japanese friends, not only when I am in Japan but also now when I am in Dunedin. I often play party games like Human Fall Flat and Overcooked2. All of these I bought because I saw YouTubers playing them and wanted to play them.
I think computer games can enjoy excitement feeling that they cannot get during normal life. For example, there are no monsters in normal life and no getting lost in a mysterious world. But in a game, that's the way it's supposed to be, and we can play alone or with friends. That's why people like computer games.
One of the slides that particularly impressed me was the point about computer games improving lives. Since computer games are often had as bad things that create addicts, I did not expect them to point out the good side.
But it is also true that it creates addicts. We enjoy it so much that we want to go on forever. The result can be sleep deprivation.
It is no problem that enjoys playing computer games, but we have to have a good distance between them.
Thank you for your posting:) I also used to do computer games, that was fine time.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your idea about monsters or mysterious world, it will become fun time.
ReplyDeleteI strongly agree that we need to be careful about distance between game and us.
ReplyDeleteI know you love games. On the other hand, games have some problems.
ReplyDeleteI also surprised that playing computer games have a lot of advantages.
ReplyDeleteInteresting post, Usa. I can identify with you when you say you want the game to go on forever and that it is difficult to stop playing the game. When watching a TV series late into the night, sometimes I know I shouldn't watch another episode, but I do. I have been hooked.
