About me -- Mayuko Nakamura

Hello, my name is Mayuko and I’m 20 years old. I live in Moodie Street with Hughes family and two children. When I arrived at Dunedin, I was surprised at very beautiful scenery that Dunedin has. I’m so glad to come to New Zealand and to meet wonderful people. When I was a high school student, I’ve been preferred to study Japanese history because I wanted to know about Japan more and more as a Japanese and it was exciting for me to memorize a lot of things. I was looking forward to swimming in the summer! The reason why I came to New Zealand is that I want to improve my English and I wish I could speak English fluently when I go back to Japan. I like listening to KPOP music, reading comic books and talking with my friends and there isn’t what I do not like to do so I would like to tell the food that I cannot eat is mashroom. I will not eat it even if my mother make dishes which are included in.

I suppose my good point is that I can think anything calmly and bad point is that I cannot be strict to myself. For instance, I cannot control myself when I want to eat snacks.

These are my cats. They are very lovely, aren’t they?

  1. HI, Mayuko. I really enjoyed reading your essay. Your cats are lovely. I am hoping to improve English with you and everyone in Dunedin, New Zealand. Also, let's read manga together. What sort of manga are you reading?

  7. Hi Mayuko, what era of Japanese history is of particular interest to you? I enjoy Nara & Heian era architecture & sculpture and Meiji era politics. By the way, your cats look great. Cats are so smart aren't they. It is so characteristic of cats to find a sunny spot on a cold day just like your cats are doing.

  9. Thank you for your introduction. I didn't know that you liked Japanese history. Japanese history was boring for me at that time, so I really respect you.
