Ahead of the Game -- Mayuko Nakamura

 A lot of kinds of computer games are being produced and people are playing games by using them most of the daytime. When a new game is released, people try to buy it as soon as possible. Therefore, playing games is becoming a trend of the world. I believe that both advantages and disadvantages would occur by playing computer games.  

Firstly, we can communicate with friends without meeting. In other words, we can “meet” friends online by playing computer games. When I had to isolate for 1 week, I felt lonely, and I wanted to connect to someone. Then, my friends suggested we can “meet” online, we can play a game together. At that time, I had never played a computer game, so it was the first time to play, but it was fun, and I was glad to talk to my friends. From my experience, playing computer games can allow us to connect to someone without meeting.  


On the other hand, there are disadvantages. It is the point at which we become too absorbed in the game. Especially for children, they tend to spend less time for studying. I think this will be a problem because they cannot get into the habit of studying.

    Yes, there are both benefits and drawbacks to gaming, aren't there. I wonder if many of the friendships people form in game environments are developed via social media applications and then through real world meet ups. It would be interesting to know if anyone has studied this topic.

  Hello, class! I’m Shiho and from Japan. Also, I’m 19 years old and now live in Kaikorai with Hilary who is my host mother. I have impressed a nature, a view from my home and a wood stove.
