Would You Volunteer Abroad?

You have watched interviews with two returned Peace Corps volunteers - Olena & Carmen. How did volunteering abroad enrich their lives and how did they enrich the lives of those they were working amongst? Would you consider volunteering abroad in the future? Why or why not, and if so is there a country you would like to volunteer in and what would you like to do there?

    I thought New Zealand and Japan are quite opposite. Where Japan's numbers are low, New Zealand's numbers are high, and conversely, where Japan's numbers are high, New Zealand's numbers are low.      I found the INDULGENCE section particularly interesting. In this section, Japanese scores are considerably lower than New Zealanders. I too think New Zealanders are optimistic. I get very impatient and frustrated when buses are late or go early or do not arrive on time. About Me -- Yugo Konno

  My name is Yugo Konno.  I am from Tokyo and 20 years old now. I am living  with the White family in St. Clair. My impression of Dunedin is that there are many spectacular sceneries and kind people. My favorite subject in high school was world history. I took this course to improve my writing and listening English skills. I like cycling because it makes me so excited. What I dislike is having a part-time job because it’s so boring. My only one advantage is that once I start something, I never stop in the middle.  My name is Tamon Yamamoto. Now I am 19 years old and will turn 20 in September. I live in Green Island with Riley and Dylan family. I have the impression that people in Dunedin are very kind and helpful. They smile at me when I walk into a store or when I ask them a question. My favorite subject was Japanese history. I chose this course because I want to improve my English in order to live abroad. In my free time, I often go out for dinner with my friends. It is a good time for me because I like to talk with people. I am not good at cleaning. My room is always dirty and my mother often gets angry with me. I clean only once a month when I feel good. My goal is to get a high score in TOEFL and IELTS when I come back to Japan. However, my listening and speaking skills are not good enough at the moment, so I will study harder.
