Past Pandemics: A Reflection -- Ayano Yoshiike
In this week, I learned about pandemic. There are some fascinating facts that I have known through the lectures. Firstly, I got surprised at the fact that Kitazato Shibasaburo who is Japanese, contributed to finding pestis. I am sure that his discovery had a good effect on people during the era. Secondary, I didn’t know that the patients who had Influenzas in 1918-1919 were seriously suffering from them. I believed that they were just one of strong colds. I can’t imagine Influenzas cause vomiting, bleeding noses and so on. On top of that, I am surprised at the fact that there were four Influenzas pandemics in history such as Spanish cold, Asian cold, Hong Kong cold, and Soviet cold. From the pandemics that I learnt , I can say Covid-19 or another new plague will be like Influenza. I’m regard with plaque, people are tend to look at negative sides but I can state one good effect. It is that pandemic can be eco-friendly. I heard that the seas in Hawaii become beautiful than before the spreading of Covid-19.
I didn't know the information that the seas in Hawaii become beautiful than before Covid-19, so I was surprised!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, Ayano, with less movement of cars, ships and aircraft and less economic activity as a whole there was less effect on the environment. Perhaps some of these gains can be retained in this post-pandemic world as many people continue to work from home as opposed to say driving to their offices.
ReplyDeleteDavid :-)
I am surprised that the seas in Hawaii became clean than before Covid 19. You have a great insight.
ReplyDeleteAs you described, Japanese scientists developed medical technology in some way. Kitasato Shibasaburo is famous for a university that he made Kitasato University which developed today's medicine!
ReplyDeleteI didn't know that the seas in Hawaii become beautiful than before the spreading of Covid-19. it's a absolutely good.
ReplyDeleteHi, Ayano. I like your perspective that COVID-19 is eco-friendly. Indeed, fewer tourists cause the environment to be cleaned.
