About Me -- David Woodfield
Hi, my name is David Woodfield and I’m 59 years of age. I live in Maori Hill in Dunedin, NZ, together with my wife, Patricia, our dog, Neo, and my daughter's tuxedo cat, Beetlejuice.
I like Dunedin because of its compact size and its hilly setting. It doesn't take long to go anywhere round town and I like the views that the hills afford.
My favourite subject at high school was Art History. I’m teaching this English language course in fulfilment of my duties as a teacher at the University of Otago.
My likes include reading, watching TV and walking. I like reading books about faith, art & society. As for TV, I enjoy watching romantic movies. I like walking from my home to my office each day and taking Neo for walks around my neighbourhood.
I’m not a fan of waiting in queues, eating chocolate that has a sticky or chewy centre, or trying to figure out what’s wrong when my computer isn’t doing what I want it to do.
As for my good point, I would say it is that I’m optimistic. My bad point though is ‘leaving things to the last minute.’
My goal is to be a better person.
Your picture is very good. How long have you been living in Dunedin? I like walking, so I want to know which road you recommend to walk. Mashiro
ReplyDeleteHi Mashiro, thanks for your comment on my picture. It was taken by my wife in Bangkok, Thailand. I have been living in Dunedin since my return from Sakai in 2005. Waverly, where your residence is located, is pretty nice for walks. A nice day walk would be to walk from Tomahawk Lagoon to the Otago Peninsula War Memorial and then back down the hill to your home in Waverly. You could get the bus to the lagoon and walk back to your home via the war memorial. The views from the memorial are stunning. David :-)
DeleteHello, David. I am really happy to have you as my teacher. I love dogs and want to know the breed of your dog!
ReplyDeleteHi Kana, thanks for those kind words. My dog, Neo, is a white toy poodle. Do you have a dog too?
DeleteHI, David. I really enjoyed reading your essay and seeing your picture. I like walking as well. Which roads do you like the best?
ReplyDeleteThanks for those kind words, Ayano. As for walking, I like doing the circuit of going up Lynwood Ave, along Highgate, down Pacific Street and then along Wallace Street back to my home in Lynwood Avenue. This walk afford views of the Dunedin Harbour and the Green Belt. David :-)
DeleteYour picture is wonderful! Have you ever been to Japan? Japan has also a lot of beautiful nature, so I recommend coming😊 And I would like to know your recommend romantic movie!
ReplyDeleteI have been to Japan, Usa, and I would agree with you that it has a lot of beautiful natural spots. One of my favourites is the Island of Yakushima. I love the forested mountains there. What is one of your favourite wild places in Japan? As for romantic movies, "While You Were Sleeping" is a pretty cool one! David :-)
DeleteYour picture is pretty nice! I also tend to leave things so I empathize with you and I like art so are there museums where we can see paintings?
ReplyDeleteHi Shiho, thanks for empathizing with me. There are some great art galleries here in Dunedin. I will definitely take you and your classmates to some. David :-)
DeleteThank you for your introduction. I am not good at the subject. when I hear "impressionist" or something, I become sleepy. I don't like chocolate and caramel because of the same reason.
ReplyDeleteHa ha, funny that we agree on disliking chocolate with a sticky center. I will try to convince you to become an art lover, though. David :-)
DeleteThank you for your introduction. I love walking too! Let's walk with me someday.
