Would You Volunteer Abroad? -- Yugo
I partly think that volunteering abroad is a good thing, because some country can learn skills that they want to develop, while at the same time, people who can participate volunteering can have a cultural exchange with the people they are volunteering with. I think Olena and Carmen have gained these experiences. However, there is a case that volunteering is not necessary. For example, JICA in Japan tried to implement a ProSAVANA program in Mozambique with several countries, but it was strongly opposed by local farmers, which caused problems. When I saw this news, I believe that there was no point in these volunteers and felt that this was more like a kind of ethnic cleansing, because forcing people to accept volunteering is not volunteering, and if their traditional culture disappears due to this volunteering, they will lose their identity. The technology of people in countries with less economic development does not necessarily mean inferior technology. That idea contradicts the idea of cultural relativism, which is the basis of cultural anthropology. Therefore, I think it is wrong to think that it is good for technologically disadvanced countries to receive technology from advanced countries,
The countries I would like to volunteer in after dispelling the above concerns are the regions of the Central Asian countries of the former Soviet Union. I have a strong interest in their culture and language, because their historical background is partly similar to Japan.
I am surprised because you see volunteer in a different perspective from others. good
ReplyDeleteI'm also interesting in the central Asia countries so volunteering in those countries sounds good!
