The Three Minute Thesis Competition -- Yugo Konno

 



First of all, I could not listen to their presentations enough to appreciate all the presenters. Therefore, I would like to mention the only one I was able to hear well, Shabana Ali who discussed global warming and artificial intelligence. Her thought was based on objective data and she drew logical conclusions. She was also passionate about environmental changes such as deforestation, so I could feel her enthusiasm. And for me, the relationship between global warming and artificial intelligence was unexpected.

I believe that graduate studies are really different from undergraduate studies, because former one  become very specialized. Therefore, I think the level of difficulty will be very high. In fact, I found the presentation the other day very difficult, because I am not interested in business well. On the other hand, I am interested in graduate study because I think that if it is a subject that I like, I definitely think that I want to deepen my knowledge

    Interesting post, Yugo. You certainly understood what Shabana Ali was trying to say. I wonder whether there will indeed be a 4th industrial revolution where AI can contribute to building sustainable production. I hope Ali's work can be part of making this happen.
    You're right that postgraduate study is particularly specialized. I am glad that you can see its potential in relation to be a topic that you're passionate about. David :-)

    Hi, Yugo! Indeed, global warming is a familiar theme, so it was easy to hear. I also couldn't understand their speech completely, so let's improve our skills together.

My ideal school -- Ayano Yoshiike

My ideal school Ayano Yoshiike   If I were an educator or a school principal, I’d like to introduce a method called “4 trees”. I have come up with this system by myself, so I’d like to explain it. “4 trees” is a method which 4 educational approaches are combined. The first approach is adopting high tech classes. The second one is adopting outside classes that teach students agriculture and environmentally-friendly activities ． The third one is adopting self-organization study. In this method, students study individually. The fourth one is that teachers teach children, but they get students to solve questions. To adopt this method, children can study inside and outside of their school. Also, they can learn both high tech and traditional education. Also, they can work with their classmates, and they can even have their individual studying time. However, there is a problem. Students would be lazy whilst they are studying by themselves. Past Pandemics: A Reflection -- Mashiro Yamashita

 I was surprised the most about death toll. For example, because of the plague, about half of Europe’s population was died. It was a surprising number for me.  I think the plague is most terrifying pandemic because the color of skin become black. It is so scary that they might feel very nervous at the time.  What we can learn from these pandemics is that living environment is important. These pandemics occurred because of urbanization, the bad situation of a water pump and so on. If their living environment had been good, we would have been able to prevent these pandemics.  Positive change that has resulted from the Covid-19 is about online shopping. I had an image that only young people shopped online before covid. However, today, more and more elderly people shop online because they couldn’t go supermarket. Thanks to online shopping, they can get goods which they need easily.
