My Ideal School -- Mayuko Nakamura

 My Ideal School

I would like to describe the details of my ideal school. Firstly, I need a place near nature that students can go outside in break times or lunch times freely. If there aren’t digital devices in this school, they cannot learn how to use or media literacy when they grow up so I would like to create classes which have both aspects nature and technology. I also need advisors and counselors.

In my school, I want students to think outside the box. They will need skills to create ideas which will be useful for our environment or our future. Therefore, I will not adopt methods of using a curriculum or teachers. Because of this, students can take classes what they want to learn or with subjects which they are interested in. If there were in school, students would behave typically and conventionally. I believe that people who can think outside the box will be needed to save our future so I will not use any a curriculum or teachers.

However, there is a problem to solve. Students will have to think about a lot of things such as about nature, technology and their curriculums so they might be tired or confused. To solve this problem, I found an idea. I will have some counselors in my school so when students become tired or confused, they can talk to counselors. Then, they can get some advice.

There are other problems to think about, but I suppose my ideal school will work affectively to improve children’s creativity.

  1. Interesting post, Mayuko, you have gone with the idea of student-centered education where the teacher sits alongside the student and facilitates and advises rather than stands above them and directs. I can imagine your counsellors offering encouragement in order to assist the students to 'think outside the box.'

  2. I agree that you will not adopt methods of using a curriculum or teachers. Children will learn more enthusiastically, and talking to counselors is important, too.

  3. Educating children's creativity is not easy, but I think your strategy must work effectively.

  4. I tend to think conventionally and have conservative tastes so I need to go to your ideal school to get rid of it!
