My name is Tamon Yamamoto. Now I am 19 years old and will turn 20 in September. I live in Green Island with Riley and Dylan family. I have the impression that people in Dunedin are very kind and helpful. They smile at me when I walk into a store or when I ask them a question. My favorite subject was Japanese history. I chose this course because I want to improve my English in order to live abroad. In my free time, I often go out for dinner with my friends. It is a good time for me because I like to talk with people. I am not good at cleaning. My room is always dirty and my mother often gets angry with me. I clean only once a month when I feel good. My goal is to get a high score in TOEFL and IELTS when I come back to Japan. However, my listening and speaking skills are not good enough at the moment, so I will study harder. I am a member of the track and field club. This picture is me and my teammates.
I thought New Zealand and Japan are quite opposite. Where Japan's numbers are low, New Zealand's numbers are high, and conversely, where Japan's numbers are high, New Zealand's numbers are low. I found the INDULGENCE section particularly interesting. In this section, Japanese scores are considerably lower than New Zealanders. I too think New Zealanders are optimistic. I get very impatient and frustrated when buses are late or go early or do not arrive on time. I think it is because of the ingrained time-bound habits of the Japanese. I felt that I was quite right about the Japanese tendencies presented by this site. Especially in terms of masculine society in a section of MASCULINITY. And the reason for this is not so much overt gender discrimination, but rather the persistence of fields in which men are naturally strong, such as manufacturing and presentation. Of course, this is not true for all pe...
One of the things that surprised me again throughout the class was that infectious diseases are not a thing of the past. We have experienced the Black Death, the Spanish flu, and cholera, and even with the development of medicine, infectious diseases itself have yet to be conquered by mankind. Through the Covid-19 pandemic, I have made an interesting discovery in the thinking of people around the world. It is the contrast between liberalism, which focuses on the rights of the individual, and which focuses on the interests of the group. In many Western countries, especially in the United States, where the emphasize on individual rights, people strongly oppose and demonstrate against the Covid-19 measure if it restricts people's rights. In Japan, however, people do not seem to strongly oppose the government's policies even when their rights are restricted. One Japanese politician said that this is due to the quality of the Japanese people. However, I believe that the historical ...
